Last week, I felt very uncertain with my ability to salvage what was meant to be a geometric ceramics project. As the pieces were falling apart, so was my confidence. The more I thought of ways to fix it, the more problems began to present themselves. So, for the sake of my sanity, I took a break for a few days to allow my frustration to die down. After three days, I approached this dying project once again. With the intention of finishing this piece by the end of the week, I spent extra time in the studio to get as much work done as possible. This extra time definitely paid off.

I am proud to say that I have successfully managed to save this project from what I thought was a point of no return. Not only did I repair the pieces that fell apart, I also got everything assembled and smoothed out. I am very happy that I didn’t give up because it turned out pretty well considering how much suffering it caused me. I learned a lot about myself and the way that I work under pressure. By the end of the week, I understood the importance of thinking things through and patience. My finishing touch to add is rounding off the edges of the base, then I am officially done with this project (for now at least). Now I can focus on my next project— more updates on that next week!
