Another week has passed since my last post and I have some fun updates to share! The main thing I want to share is my venture into the world of 3D printing and digital modeling. Personally, I have never been a huge fan of making digital art. I have always found it to be frustrating and very confusing. But, after watching some demos and giving it a little time, I was able to come up with some ideas and models for tools to use in some of my ceramics work. I am mostly excited about creating a 3D-printed stamp of a logo I made years ago. I want to use this stamp as a signature for all of my work. It is always so annoying trying to etch my initials in each piece, and sometimes it doesn’t look so great. Having a 3D stamp will take care of all of that for me. It will be quick, convenient, and consistent. I added a picture of the logo I used below.

I also wanted to experiment with making a 3D texture stamp. I was thinking of what texture or pattern could make a really interesting print, and I came up with a closeup of the veins of a leaf. I used a 3D modeling website to take the image that I included below and create a stamp that I can have 3D printed and use to create some unique textures and patterns. I plan on taking the printed stamp and attaching it to a wooden paddle to make it easier to use. I am really looking forward to seeing how this will turn out.

For next week’s blog update, I will show how these 3D printed stamps come out and the results for each as well. I am very optimistic and can’t wait for the next update!
